Multiple Ways to Build Your Character

Combat and Story, Why Choose When You Can Enjoy Both

14 years in development and more than 1 year for revision, award-winning indie developer KEIZO gave his all into this work. The plot keeps twisting as characters growing in an ever expanding world; Classic themes like time travel and tons of spoilers are all custom-made with the developer’s own style. In ASTLIBRA, Story elements are often made into game mechanics, for example, your soul-mate Karon is not just a sidekick to talk with.

The game doesn't start when I click on run, it will show up in task manager for a few seconds, and then disappear.

Is this crack working?

Anyone on linux? I installed it through lutris but it won't launch. Other releases from this scene group work fine.

Is this the updated version? They just released DLC for this game (Baker girl side story) dungeon crawler Add-On. Also there is an updated translation thats much better than the first one. Actually probably just buy the game its cheap and awesome

This is an outstanding game. If you liked Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night be sure to check this out.

Uh? Bloodstained is a metroidvania. Astlibra is a linear action RPG where you alternate between watching cutscenes in town and then exploring a somewhat straightforward dungeon where most of your time is spent on farming materials to buy equipment and maxing out their proficiency (basically Falcom's Ys 8 + Xanadu Next), and you can't leave until you beat the boss.

Well, I felt like the gameplay is very similar, but you're correct it's more of an adventure as opposed to a metroidvania.

Hmm... Interesting... I LOVED Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

I second this. played this quite far and if you like Ys too, this is a good linear adventure game with nice progression and adequate amount of grinding (if you ever wanted to OP the heck outta this game)

Which Ys game would you recommend? I've been wanting to try one of those for a while now.

All of them, really, but the originals are so amazing. You can play the updated version of the originals so it's not as old to you, but 1-5, and Ark of Napishtim...omg....

what kind of Ys do you want to experience?

if you are going for some easy and simple one, Ys Seven is the way. if you are looking for a little bit of challenge, either Ys Origin or Ys I & II would be my choice since they are still true to their old Ys

Personally I regard Ys 8 as the best in the series, though I haven't played any of the remakes as I've played each game around when they got released. I didn't like Ys Origin, it's kinda like that optional 99-floor post-game dungeon we see in so many games, and combat is just mindless button mashing. But a lot of people seem to think otherwise. I guess it depends on your experience with video games; having played about 2000 games, my standards aren't the same as for your average player.

well sorry for being average, It was just based on my experience that has played Ys I in the SNES version and see how much difference of progress in the game. Yes, I also haven't played VII because my pc can't handle it and thus my comment and as I said, I only recommended Origin because It stays true to Ys series, which is a good way to know how the series works and also a reason to why I did not recommended the newer ones since they might not be able to taste what an average player like me would feel

Ys Origin is a spin-off, hence why it has no numbering. As such, I don't know how you can see it as a good representation of the series. It's a tower-climbing game with gameplay similar to that of Zwei, another series by Falcom.

I've played Ys 1 on the Sega Master System back in the days; it never came out on the SNES. Had a blast, despite being a Hydlide clone, but mostly because I enjoy finding items by examining random spots. I wouldn't recommend it to the newer generation of players.

I've played Ys 7 on PSP and thought it was forgettable. Maybe the PC version is better, I'll never know.

I've played Ys 8 and Ys 9 on a 2011 laptop with a garbage GT 525M graphics card. Just how old is your PC?

Thanks for the input guys. I found a copy of the GOG version of Ys VIII. I also grabbed Ys VII. I installed VIII it looks really good, I'm about to install VII and see what that looks like.

Have fun. I forgot to mention I played Ys 8 on Hard (or was it Nightmare?) because I read that Normal was too easy, so you might want to try that. Getting a good challenge gives you an incentive to explore and farm materials and use strategy. You can change the difficulty at any time if you struggle. I remember doing so for the first mini-boss as my options were kinda limited at that point.
